After reigning for 70 years, Queen Elizabeth II has passed away at Balmoral at the age of 96.
President of the National Association of Federal Retirees, Roy Goodall expressed his sympathies today on behalf of the Association, on receipt of the sad news that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away at her Scottish estate Balmoral Castle at the age of 96. Her eldest son Charles the Prince of Wales will now ascend the throne as King of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth Realm.
“Queen Elizabeth led an extraordinary life and guided the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth through many turbulent and jubilant events during her 70-year reign”, said Goodall. “I would venture that most of our members swore an oath of allegiance to the Crown during their service to Canada and Queen Elizabeth was the embodiment of the Crown. I myself received a Queen’s Commission signed on behalf of the Sovereign by the Governor General as an Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. Queen Elizabeth will be dearly missed, and we extend our most sincere condolences to her family and all her subjects.”
