Attention all Federal Retirees Edmonton Branch members
There is an opportunity for you to participate in the success of the Edmonton Branch as a volunteer phoner. Phoners help the branch keep in touch with members who do not have internet or email. This adds to our overall attendance and participation.
Duties of the volunteers are to phone a list of members who do not have computers to advise them of upcoming meetings and events. As a volunteer phoner, prior to a planned event, you will be provided with the message to be delivered along with a list of names and phone numbers. As you complete your calls, you will record who are planning to attend and any questions not answered in the material provided to you. You would relay this information back to coordinator by a specific date to help determine the number of meals to be ordered.
If you would like to become a volunteer phoner, or to learn more about it, please contact Edmonton Branch by phone at 780-413-4687 or 1-855-376-2336 and leave a message. Or email us at edmonton@federalretirees.ca.
Being a volunteer phoner is a great way to get involved with the organization, or to get acquainted or reacquainted with the members and former colleagues.
Volunteer Board Members:
We are always interested in finding branch members who may be interested in becoming board or committee members. There are many different types of opportunities to become involved in our social activity planning, or our advocacy team, to mention just two opportunities. Individuals who are interested usually attend a board meeting or two or three, to observe, ask questions and offer comments or suggestions. If they are interested in joining, the existing members will meet “in camera” and vote on accepting them as a member.
