President's Remembrance note,
Huronia Branch
Canada has a strong and proud military history. Around the world and at home, members of the CAF have served with distinction – protecting Canadians and contributing to peace in other countries. They are proud to serve – and we are proud of
their service.
Some of your parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts – or others you may know – have served in Canada’s army, navy or air force, which are all part of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Some served many years ago – across the Atlantic Ocean in Europe during the two world wars, or later in Korea. Others have served more recently – over the past 20 years – in the Balkans, Afghanistan, and other parts of the world. We call them veterans and many of them died fighting for our country – and for a better
future for their families, children and grandchildren. Every year we remember what our
veterans have done for us.
This week, leading up to and especially on Nov. 11 , we remember the service of our veterans and the sacrifices they have made and continue to make for Canada.
