Nova Scotia Central Branch Annual Meeting Update
The annual general meeting (AGM) of the Nova Scotia Central Branch of the National Association of Federal Retirees was held at the Best Western Plus Dartmouth Hotel and Suites, Dartmouth, NS. on Apr 15, 2025.
Joe Arsenault welcomed all members and guests. Anne Marie-Leger, the branch advocacy liaison officer presented the federal elections update to inform the ongoing work the branch is doing for the ‘Canada Votes 2025’ campaign.
The treasurer, Paul McCabe presented the branch financial report for 2024 and the 2025 budget.
Laurie Morton first vice president presented to the group an amendment to a section of the branch bylaws, relating to the appointment of the officers. The officers will now be appointed for a term of two years by the board within 14 days of the AGM. This motion was approved by the assembly.
Linda Moakler, completed the elections and appointed three new board members in accordance with the branch bylaws (Anne Marie Leger, Delores Woodley and Stephanie Dean).
Representatives of four of our preferred partners were present, providing information to attending members. Those participating were Hearing Life, Arbor Memorial, Collette Travel and Goodlife Fitness.
After covering the ‘business of the day’, we were delighted and honoured to have as our special guest speaker, Brenda Teed, an Atlantic representative of the Association's national board. Brenda’s presentation was very informative as she provided greater knowledge and understanding of the Issues that are being worked on by the national board, with the goal to build an association that can sustain its purpose and vision.
We have a lot to look forward to in 2025, and we anticipate your continued feedback to maintain our branch’s presence as we continue to serve our members
