Presentations

Caregivers provide physical, social and psychological support to people who are losing their autonomy. They accompany the person with loss of autonomy, monitor medication intake, and support their quality of life while taking care of daily tasks. Distress and feelings of isolation sometimes overwhelm caregivers. The conference will provide useful tools and resources to answer the following questions: How to manage emotions? What is proximology, the needs and limits of the caregiver? Trained at the Centre de Relation d'aide de Montréal (CRAM), Manon Lafrenière is a therapist, speaker and non-judgmental professional caregiver using the Non-Directive Creative Approach® (ANDC®) created by Colette Portelance. Based on her principles of authentic communication in inner healing, Ms. Portelance gives meaning to suffering, and quotes: "To suffer psychically is to feel unpleasant emotions whose range of intensitý varies between discomfort and anguish." Don't miss this conference to gain a better understanding of the emotional issues involved in caregiving.
