A brighter future for retirement in Canada

At the National Association of Federal Retirees, advocacy is our raison d'être. We strive to make life better for our members and to ensure that all Canadians can age with dignity, security and choice. Our advocacy is focused on five priorities — the building blocks for positive aging in Canada.

How we advocate

Our work includes meeting with government officials, contributing to policy development, participating in coalitions and amplifying member voices.

From community to cabinet

  • Our association is 170,000 members strong.
  • We create training, tools and resources for effective advocacy.
  • We build campaigns that drive home our priorities and make an impact with elected representatives.

Strong local and national engagement

  • National leaders represent our members’ interests with ministers, parliamentary secretaries, critics, parliamentary committee chairs and partner organizations.
  • Volunteers and members develop strong relationships with elected representatives in ridings across the country.

Evidence-based impact

  • We prepare briefs and position papers as part of our government relations work, building profile and visibility.
  • Staff monitor emerging issues and provide timely, evidence-informed recommendations to the association’s decision-makers.
