Welcome to the Quebec Branch of the National Association of Federal Retirees!
Dear members,
It is with pleasure that I accepted the presidency of the Quebec Branch during the general assembly election on April 10, succeeding Micheline Lefrançois, who chose to leave this position after nine years of commitment on the board of directors.
I sincerely thank Micheline for her support during the transition. She will continue to bring her experience and insightful perspective by taking on an advisory role as past president on the board of directors.
The recent changes at the presidency level of the branch occurred last January, when René Grenier, president since 2020, left the presidency to run as a director on the national board of directors, whose election will take place next June in Gatineau. Through his expertise and leadership, René has highlighted the Quebec Branch, always showcasing the work of his volunteer colleagues.
He also agreed to accompany me during the transition. Thanks to his support, as well as the expertise and great collaboration of my volunteer colleagues on the board, we continue to pursue the same goal: providing our members with the best service they are entitled to.
I am also very happy to collaborate with my colleagues from other branches of Quebec and to unite our efforts around the governance issues of our association. Together, we aim to better understand and anticipate the impacts of these decisions on our branches as well as on the essential engagement of our volunteers.
Over the course of my career, I have accumulated several years of experience within the federal government, notably at the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC). There, I held various management and representative roles, including regional director, chair of professional groups, negotiator, and more recently, regional representative of the Retired Members' Guild (RMG). In each of these responsibilities, I have always been committed to defending the rights of members, addressing their needs, and actively contributing to the advancement of their priorities.
At the same time, I have developed extensive experience and recognized expertise within the labor movement. My commitment has been demonstrated through my membership in the FTQ in 2015, my participation in the peer training program, as well as my involvement in the youth committee. I also held the position of interim vice president in 2014, a role that allowed me to contribute significantly to the representation and defense of members.
Finally, I had the opportunity to meet members at the AGM on April 10, as well as at our sugar shack event on April 22. I am very much looking forward to meeting you in the regions of Chicoutimi, Gaspé, and Matane.
