Support for Canadian seniors impacted by COVID-19

Senior man.

On March 29, the Prime Minister announced the contribution of $9 million in funding to support Canadian seniors impacted by COVID-19. The funding will be distributed through United Way Canada for local organizations to support practical services to Canadian seniors. These services could include the delivery of groceries, medications or other needed items, or personal outreach to assess individuals’ needs and connect them to community supports. We will provide you with more details as they become available.

During this public health crisis, Federal Retirees members may wish to reach out with charitable donations of their own to support others who are less fortunate than themselves. There are plenty of charities that would welcome your support including local food banks or national charities like the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC). Retirees can make donations online through the GCWCC ePledge form. For more information about the GCWCC and how retirees can get involved, visit the Government of Canada website.
