Ottawa Branch volunteers met with four Kanata–Carleton candidates ahead of the July provincial by-election.

Ottawa Branch president Dave Bennett, branch board member Hugh O’Donnell and volunteer Richard Lajeunesse met with the four candidates to ensure they were aware of Federal Retirees’ priorities and to discuss their party’s positions on critical seniors’ issues.

Volunteers met with Karen McCrimmon of the Ontario Liberal Party, Melissa Coenraad of the Ontario NDP, Sean Webster of the PC Party of Ontario and Steven Warren of Green Party of Ontario to discuss important issues impacting seniors in Ottawa, such as long-term care and health-care funding.

Conversation on long-term care focused on the need to implement national standards for long-term care, as well as improvements to regulations, oversight and accountability in Ontario long-term care facilities.

Discussion around health-care funding centred on the need to deal with the backlog and delayed services affecting the health-care system in Ontario.

Volunteers took minutes of each meeting and shared them in a message to all members within the Kanata–Carleton riding ahead of the by-election.
