The National Association of Federal Retirees, which represents within its membership over 60,000 veteran members and their partners, met with Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence Lawrence MacAulay to discuss priority issues that are affecting veterans and their families. The Association representatives, including CEO Simon Coakeley, outlined the concerns brought forward during the national Veterans Outreach Initiative tour, and during the veterans issues summits that followed. These concerns included a more robust effort to build on work started by the new Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group working together with Veterans Affairs, more effective communication and support, equitable care and benefits for veterans and survivors.
