Watch now: Ottawa Branch hosts virtual information sessions with federal election candidates

September 28, 2021
Ottawa Branch election townhall.
Federal Retirees’ Ottawa Branch and its collaborators were able to hold eight virtual information sessions with local candidates — one in each riding!

The Ottawa Branch collaborated with the Ottawa chapter of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) and the Council on Aging of Ottawa, to hold eight virtual information sessions with local candidates – one in each Ottawa riding.

Each session lasted one hour and asked local candidates to address these topics:

  • National seniors strategy with dedicated funding and accountability goals
  • Enforced principles and national standards for long-term care
  • Adequate funding for home care to improve health outcomes and reduce costs

Special thanks go to the Ottawa Branch president Robert Giroux and branch director Jean-Claude Bouchard for acting as masters of ceremony. Thanks also go to the Ottawa Branch advocacy chair Leslie Lawry, and branch advocacy working group members Hélène Buteau, Dianne Kanary and Moninna Running.
