2025 Annual Members' Meeting and Luncheon (AGM)

  1. President Ed Wells welcomed everyone to the 2025 annual general meeting which was attended by 96 members.
  2. Ed introduced the executive, guests Ted Young, director, district and national board and guest speaker Caitlin DeCecca from VON, and welcome to new members.  
  3. Moment of reflection held for those who have passed away.
  4. Branch announcements and events for 2025:

- Cancellation of branch September general meeting and summer lunch was announced due to lack of participation and   cost. 

          -  Nov. 11 Remembrance Day services to be held at Warplane Heritage Museum, Mount Hope and Burlington                        Cenotaph.

- Tuesday, Nov. 25 Christmas Luncheon at RCL, Dundas.

  1. Introduction of Guest Speaker Caitlin De Cecca, VON who spoke about the home care services provided to allow elderly to remain in their own homes.
  2. Buffet lunch was provided by Chef Jeff Chovaz of Andiamo Italian Catering.

 

Branch AGM Business Meeting

  1. Business meeting portion was called to order by Ed Wells.
  2. 2024 Branch Financial Report, 2025 Projections and 2025 Reserve Fund Template provided by Bob Black for Cathy Tarves. 

    Reviewed financial statements showing Earnings (loss) of ($1,302.24) for year end of 2024 were presented.  

    Reserves for 2024 of $3,395.74 were presented. 

    Reserves for 2025 of $2,000 were presented.

    The bank balance as of December 31, 2024 was $10,497.92. 

Total Equity was $15,732.55. (See attached financial reports).

  1. Mike Walters made a motion and was seconded by Mark Leonard to accept Branch Financial Report for 2024. All in favour and motion carried.
  2. The 2025 projection and branch reserve was moved by Mark Leonard and seconded by Ed Wells. All in favour and motion carried.
  3. Review committee for 2024 Year End - Len Coughlan and Joe Petruszkiewicz. Bob Black made a motion and it was second by Gloria Reid to accept this appointment. All in favour and motion carried.
  4. 2025 Membership Report provided by Gloria Reid. She reported that membership is being maintained at the 1400 mark. This year the focus will be on recruitment.
  5. Advocacy: Letters were sent to MP’s. Only one response was received.
  6. Gloria Reid presented a Branch Certificate of Appreciation to Mike Walters for all the years of service he provided to the Branch.
  7. 2025 branch election of board members - Director Ted Young, Ontario District announced the 2025 Slate standing as board members. He called for nominations and expression of interest from the floor. Edith DeKryger nominated Aileen Duncan for the position of member at large. She accepted.
  8. Swearing in of the new branch executive and Board was conducted by Director Ted Young. He read the oath of office with each of the executive members swearing to uphold the oath of office.
  9. Call for motion to close the close the 2025 branch AGM was made by Bob Black and seconded by Edith DeKryger.
