The National War Memorial in downtown Ottawa is a place of remembrance and reflection for generations of Canadians.
The National Association of Federal Retirees joins Canadians across the country in observing Remembrance Day on Nov.11.
On this solemn day, we honour the courage, sacrifice and steadfast service of all who have answered Canada’s call. Whether they served in times of war, peacekeeping or domestic security, their commitment endures in our freedoms, our values and our collective future.
We pause to honour those who sacrificed their lives, those who carry the memories of service with them every day and those whose next chapter in civilian life is a journey of transition and healing. Their legacy calls on us to turn remembrance into action — to honour their sacrifices by building a country that stands for fairness, dignity and lasting support for those who served.
As an association representing retired federal public servants and current and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces, the RCMP and their families, Federal Retirees works to ensure that Canada honours its commitments to those who served. This includes addressing long wait times for benefit decisions, improving access to trauma-informed care and promoting equity for women and Indigenous veterans who continue to face unique challenges.
To all veterans, their families and caregivers, we thank you. And to all Canadians, we invite you to take a moment on Nov. 11 to remember, attend a ceremony, share a veteran’s story, wear a poppy or simply reflect on the freedoms secured through their service.
Lest we forget.
